Chiropractic Care: Drug-Free Back Pain Management

Acute and chronic back pain is more than just an “inconvenience”. Our chiropractor Dr. Scott Stratton understands that recurring back pain can have a serious impact on your quality of life. Without effective treatment, back pain will not simply “get better” with time. In fact, back pain can actually worsen. Lower back pain is the single leading cause of disability worldwide and more than half of all working Americans have back pain symptoms each year. Americans spend an estimated $50 billion each year for back pain relief. Unfortunately, many of these treatments only address the symptoms of back pain and fail to correct the underlying problem. Chiropractic care is different. By treating the root cause for your back pain, our chiropractor Dr. Stratton can help you return to living an active, pain-free life.

How Chiropractic Care Treats Back Pain & Sciatica

Many treatment options for back pain rely on either medication or surgery. Unfortunately, neither of these options may be the best solution for your pain management needs. Surgery is invasive and can be risky; there’s a chance you may end up with more pain than when you started! In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to come to us after failed back pain surgery and wish they had tried chiropractic care first! Medication is also risky; whether you take over-the-counter pain relievers or prescription painkillers, drugs can only “cover up” pain symptoms. Medication cannot treat the root cause for your back pain problems. Consequently, you may swing between opposite ends of the pain spectrum, feeling okay one day and suffering from crippling pain the next. Dr. Stratton understands that this is no way to live your life. That’s why chiropractic care is different.

Chiropractic adjustments target the root cause for your back pain. For many patients, this root cause is an untreated spinal misalignment. A misalignment could be caused by an untreated accident injury like whiplash, a herniated disc, or simply natural wear and tear over time. Once the spine is out of alignment, vertebra may compress nearby nerves and muscles. This compression can trigger radiating pain and restrict mobility. For example, a misalignment in the lumbar spine like a herniated disc can compress the nearby sciatic nerve. This compression can then trigger a radiating and numbing pain sensation along the length of the nerve known as sciatica. As long as the lumbar spine continues to be out of alignment, pain will persist.

Chiropractic care is a comprehensive, drug-free, non-invasive back pain management solution. Our chiropractor begins by identifying the underlying subluxations that are triggering your pain. We use gentle, precise adjustments to bring correct alignment back to your spine, alleviating nerve compression and relieving pain. Depending on the cause and severity of your back pain, you may also benefit from complementary therapies such as physiotherapy and corrective exercises. We follow a “whole body” approach to back pain management that supports all aspects of your health.

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "I had pain in my right shoulder that went down my entire right arm and then started to go across my back to my left shoulder, ... I could not lift my right arm to drive the car, I could not sleep. It hurt for over a year. Now I have almost complete range of motion. I can do things I fogot I had stopped doing . I can raise my arm above my head. I can hold things in my right hand. I can sleep thru the night without any pain. For over a year I had the pain so it didn't go away over night but its so much better. I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Stratton."
